Minneapolis, Minn. – Stephen Hart Whitten, a 19-year-old Minnesota man was arrested Friday after a woman awoke to find him rummaging through her things wearing nothing but a woman’s thong.

According to Minneapolis police Whitten was captured on a surveillance camera running from from the woman’s Dinkytown apartment complex wearing nothing but a thong. The burglar fled the scene after a woman inside the residence awoke to find him rummaging through her things.

Investigators say they were investigating the burglary when a man matching the suspect’s description came walking down the hall inside the complex. The woman reportedly identified the suspect, saying she was 75% sure he was the man in her room.

When police questioned Whitten, he reportedly told them he had been inside the apartment about a half hour earlier to drop off a key and retrieve his iPod. He then admitted to coming back to the apartment to snoop while the woman was asleep. He told police he was startled when the woman awoke and fled with a water bottle, according to the arrest report.

When Whitten was booked and he was reportedly wearing the same thong seen in the surveillance video.

Whitten was booked on a charge of first-degree burglary. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years and a $35,000 fine.
